Born from a Moment
Back in 2019, our founder was on vacation at a quiet beach in Southern California. The waves lapped gently against the shore, and the sun was warm and golden. As she strolled along the sand, she spotted a cracked, faded pair of plastic sunglasses tangled in seaweed, washed up by the tide.
She bent down to pick them up — and a thought struck her:
"How many more sunglasses like this are floating out there in the ocean?"
That moment stuck with her.
She has always loved sunglasses — she wears them every day, packs them for every trip, and styles her outfits around them. But she had never really stopped to ask:
Where do all the lost and discarded sunglasses actually end up?
She realized something important:
Whether you're surfing, swimming, or just enjoying the outdoors — and too many of them end up as ocean waste.
That question planted the seed for DIMA.
